GREAT OCEAN ROAD

The Great Ocean Road is a MUST if You’ re in Victoria .  It offers outstanding views, wonderful beaches and the chance to see wild koalas and wallabies . It’ s a great experience expecially if You decide to do a tour like I did. You meet new people, You have fun, You learn about other cultures, You realize how personable people can be . A group of strangers share a great experience and eventually they will become good friends.

La Great Ocean Road è un MUST se vi trovate nel Victoria . Offre bellissimi paesaggi, spiagge stupende e la possibilità di vedere koala e wallaby nel loro habitat naturale .  E’ un’ esperienza che raccomando soprattutto se si decide di andare con un tour organizzato come ho fatto io. Si conoscono nuove persone, ci si diverte, e si imparano cose nuove sulle altre culture, ci si rende conto di come l’uomo sia di tendenza socievole.  Un gruppo di perfetti sconosciuti che condividono una bella esperienza, e magari diventano anche buoni amici .

The first stop was right in front of the big sign “GREAT OCEAN  ROAD”, It’ s nice to stop to take a picture as memory of the trip, there’ s also a very nice beach where You can have a walk and relax .

La prima fermata è stata proprio all’ inizio della GREAT OCEAN ROAD,  è una buona idea fermarsi qui per scattare una foto al grosso cartellone  che indica l’inizio del percorso panoramico ed avere un ricordo del tour. Qui si trova anche una tranquilla spiaggia dove ci si può rilassare o ritemprarsi con una bella passeggiata.

Lorne was the second stop, honestly I think You can miss It, It’ s not something special, basically It’ s a little village where You can go fishing and can relax on the beach. There are some nice cafes and local places where You can have sea food.

Lorne è stata la seconda tappa del tour,  sinceramente non la considero una tappa necessaria,  è un piccolo villaggio dove si può pescare e rilassarsi in spiaggia. Ci sono caffetterie e ristorantini in cui mangiare ottimo pesce.

The third stop was Apollo Bay  which is beautiful! It’ s located at the foothills of the mighty Otways and it’ s so peaceful and relaxing, still It is a seaside village so You can choose to have an australian BBQ on the beach or to go to some of the nice restaurant and have very fresh seafood .

La terza fermata è stata Apollo Bay che è stupenda ! Si trova ai piedi delle colline dell’ Otways e passeggiando lungo la spiaggia si ha un senso di pace profonda e ci si rilassa completamente.  Anche Apollo Bay è un viallagio di pescatori, quindi si può scegliere di fare un barbeque sulla spiaggia o di andare in uno dei ristoranti e mangiare pesce freschissimo .

Next stop was on “The Otway Coast” which is one of the best places in Australia to see Koalas in the wild. There are many big colonies in and around the Otway Coast towns so you will be guaranteed close sightings.

La prossima fermata è stata lungo la costa di Otway che è uno dei posti migliori per vedere i koala vivere selvaticamente nel loro habitat naturale, se ci andate, sicuramente vedrete almeno un koala e se siete fortunati anche dei wallaby .

The other stop was one of the best of the tour : the 12 Apostles .             The 12 Apostles are rocks formed by erosion, They were once 12 but in 2005 some of them collapsed and now We can see just 8 . The view is breathtaking, You feel so small in front of the ocean and those massive rocks .

La successiva fermata è stata una delle più belle del tour: i 12 Apostoli. I 12 Apostoli sono degli scogli enormi, una volta erano 12 ma nel 2005 alcuni di essi sono crollati e ora ne possiamo vedere solo 8 . La vista è da togliere il fiato, ci si sente minuscoli di fronte all’ oceano e alle enormi rocce che spuntano dall’ acqua .

The last stop was also the best one!I’ m talking about Lock and Gorge. The gorge is named after the clipper ship Loch Ard , which ran aground on nearby Muttonbird Island , approaching the end of a three-month journey from England to Melbourne . Just two of the fifty  passengers survived .

L’ ultima fermata è stata la più bella in assoluto ! Sto per parlare del Lock and Gorge.  Questo posto incantevole prende il nome da una vicenda che non ha nulla di incantevole,  Loch Ard era infatti il nome di una nave che dopo tre mesi di navigazione si arenò nell’isola vicina Muttonbird,  la nave era partita dall’ Inghilterra e avrebbe dovuto raggiungere Melbourne,  solo due passeggeri rimasero in vita .

Lock and Gorge

The beach is beautiful, the two rocks create  kind of a salty lake, the water is so clear and the colors of the place are just amazing ! It’ s a small beach but unique, I really liked It a lot . I wish I could stay more .

La spiaggia è stupenda, le due rocce ai lati creano uan specie di lago salato, l’ acqua è azzurrissima e i colori in generale del paesaggio attorno sono bellissimi ! Non è una spiaggia grande ma penso sia unica nel suo genere, una delle migliori che abbia visto, avrei voluto fermarmi di più per godermela al 100% .
